To make your baby shower more entertaining prepare small games that can be played by your guests.  Pick up some small, useful or fun items to use as prizes for the winners. The baby shower games can act as a great icebreaker for showers where the guests may not know each other.

Try to select baby shower game that will appeal to all your guests.  Learn the ages and background of your guests since these are factors that you can use to get an idea whether or not they will enjoy the baby shower game.

Make sure you choose some games that require interaction among the guests, especially if the guest list includes family members, and different groups of friends who may not know one another.

After you have considered the people coming to the shower, you may want to choose some of the baby shower games listed below.

Mother Goose Game

This baby shower game can be played by all of the guests.  Select several lines from different nursery rhymes and write them down omitting one word from each.  Provide each guest with paper and pencil.  Read these lines to the guests remembering to omit the word.  The guests will try to guess what is the missing word in the nursery rhyme and write down their answer.  When all the rhymes have been read, the person who has the most correct answer wins.

Baby Item Memory Game

Prepare a tray of baby things and cover it with a cloth.  Provide each guest with some paper and a pencil.  Show the contents of the tray to the guests for 15 to 30 seconds and cover it up again.  After that, ask the guests to write the items that they remember.  The person who has remembered the most items wins this baby shower game.

Mommies and Babies Game

This game is good if you have children attending the baby shower. The host will reads a list of animals to which the children will call out the names of the babies of the animals.

To make the game more entertaining, you can use pictures of the animals and place them face down in a pile.  The participants can choose a picture from the pile then say the name of the mother and baby animal and mimic the sound of the animal.

Baby Food Game

Prepare for this baby shower game by buying several types of baby food and removing the labels and replacing the covers with opaque paper.  Number the jars for reference.

Ask the guests to identify the baby food by smelling or tasting.  The person who has made the most correct guesses wins the baby shower game.

Fun Facts

If your guests know one another you can try this game.

Upon arriving at the baby shower party, ask the guests to write a fact about themselves that few people know.  This may be a hidden talent, a previous job, or a movie appearance.  They drop the paper in a jar together with everyone else’s papers.

During the game, they will pick one sheet of paper and try to guess who is the person being described.

You can also modify the game by having the host read each of the facts and have all of the guests try to guess the person.

By using these or other baby shower games, you can help your guests interact with one another and you can keep them entertained.

Baby Shower Games - Spice it up!

A few fun baby shower games can really make sure the baby shower celebration you throw is fun and exciting. Games can be used to add a little zip to any gathering and help the people attending get acquainted and feel at ease amongst each other.

Feeding Time!

Put some cotton balls in a large bowl and place another empty bowl in front of it. One at a time, the players try to transfer the cotton balls from one bowl to the other while blindfolded using two spoons. There is a 30 second time limit for each player.  Since cotton balls are so light, it will actually be really hard to gauge how many balls you are scooping with the spoons. The winner of the game is the player that able to transfer the most number of cotton balls within the thirty seconds.

The Name Game

Have your guests choose two names for the baby and ask them to write these names on a piece of paper. Now have each person find words that can be made from the letters in those names. The object of the game is to make as many words from these names as possible. A word must have at least three letters.  Give the guests a certain amount of time, for exmple two minutes, to write down their words.

Ask your guests not to say the names they have chosen out loud, as a twist to the game can be made by having the other players try to guess the original names selected.

Example: Catherine Lynn
Nice - cat - the - then - they - care - liar - yet - lather

Example: Michael - Anthony
Ant – hint – mint – minty - lint

Rice Bowl

Half fill a bowl with plain, uncooked rice and then mix in some small closed safety pins. Place an empty bowl beside the bowl of rice. Have your guests take turns one at a time. Blindfold the players and set them right in front of the bowls. The object of the game is to transfer as many safety pins as possible to a different bowl in 30 seconds. This is a not as easy as it may seem as the safety pins feel a lot like the rice too.
These are only a few of the dozens of games you could play during the baby shower celebrations. Make sure these games foster friendships and, of course, put the mother-to-be in the spotlight. This is sure to make your baby shower a lot more interesting and memorable.
